Swan News

Well done to all the children who entered the ‘Book in a Box’ competition for World Book Day. We celebrated with a story in German with Ms Townshend and we played book related games on the website https://www.worldbookday.com/

I hope you have enjoyed the ‘Family Book Quiz’, all entries need to be in by Monday.

In Maths the children worked on measuring length and height, using vocabulary of length and measuring with non-standard units. Next week they will begin to measure using centimetres.

In English they wrote some lovely creative writing stories based on the Julia Donaldson book ‘Highway Rat’, thinking about the verbs in the sentences. The children all did very well with their first spelling test. I always give a certificate to the children if they get all the spellings correct or if they get just one incorrect. Look in book bags for the certificate.

In Science we started our topic on Plants. We walked around the school grounds identifying the plants we found and looking at parts of plants.

Next week is Science Week, Mrs Meston has organised some fantastic events and visitors to school. Please ask your child about the activities they have done.

Show and Tell: Plants or measuring activities.
