We began to prepare for Christmas this week in Swan Class.
The children demonstrated their IT skills when creating a digital Christmas card using Textease Paint. Drawing a picture using a mouse is not easy but I think they created some beautiful festive images for their friends.
The video message is available on the class page.
The children also came up with messages on the theme of kindness and friendship to add to a class advent calendar. I have made this in to an online advent for you to open at home, the link is on the class page.
We also joined up with our other bubble class, Cygnets, to perform the song ‘Feliz Navidad’ for the Yare Education Trust Schools Christmas performance. I will send a link when the video has been compiled.
In between our festive activities we also continued with our learning. In Maths the children revised the names of 2D and 3D shapes and used vocabulary like edges, faces and angles to describe them. They created shape people and named the shapes they used. I enjoyed seeing the shape shoe and tell from home.
We assessed the children’s tricky word knowledge and the tricky word songs and bingo sessions are clearly working, with much improved recognition. Please continue to play these activities at home.
I also assessed the Maths that we have taught this term and we can see progress there too.
In Science we talked about carnivores, herbivores and omnivores and what different animals like to eat.
We would normally have a ‘Bring your parent to school’ day to create a Christmas craft. I have a craft planned but want your feedback on how you would like to do it. I can do it at school (with all 28!) and send the finished items home, or I can make up a pack for each child, with an instructional video, and you can work together at home. Please complete the question sheet added to Google Classroom.
Show and Tell idea: draw a picture of your favourite animal and find out what it likes to eat. Is it a herbivore, carnivore or an omnivore?
