This week in phonics we focussed on the sounds that the letters n,o,p make in words. We built the words map, nap, pot, pan and sip, played the sound swap game and read words using the sounds we know. We are getting really good at following the routines for the lesson. In our Stanley’s Stick learning we recalled parts of the story and used our sticks to write our names in the sand and to practise writing the letters a,i,m,s,t,n, and p which we have covered in our Sounds Write lessons.

On Wednesday we went to a special assembly where we met James Dasaolu who is an Olympic sprinter. We had a fun time taking part in the fitness circuit after the assembly.

In our maths lessons we have been investigating patterns. We made repeating patterns with Autumn materials, classroom resources, different sized natural objects and we had fun doing patterns with vegetable printing . We enjoyed reading We’re Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury. We joined in with the word patterns and actions to go with the story.

We have been learning about the people who look after us. We drew pictures of our families and labelled these. In PE we enjoyed playing games around the theme of ambulances, doctors and firemen where we practised moving around the hall safely moving in different ways and directions.

On Friday we joined in with Platinum time with the rest of the school. The children were able to try different activities in different classrooms with older pupils. In our classroom we designed bags and cones for popcorn and we enjoyed eating the popcorn. We watched The Snail and the Whale and Stickman.
