We have completed our first week at school. We are beginning to learn the Cygnet morning routine. We are learning where to put our belongings, to register independently and to make choices within the continuous provision. We are beginning get to know the adults in school and to make new friends. We all enjoyed our first lunch at school and finally had a day together as a whole class. We have been reciting our favourite finger rhymes. We enjoyed listening to stories and our favourite has been Little Rabbit Foo Foo by Michael Rosen. It was requested again by one of the children and we discussed that one special thing about books is that we can read them again. By the end of the week the children were all joining in with the story with great gusto! We talked about the sad passing of Queen Elizabeth and what we know about her. The children knew that people were leaving tributes of flowers for the Queen. We talked about the flowers we knew about; roses, poppies, sunflowers, daisies and dandelions. The children all painted a flower for the Queen and we made a lovely bouquet of flowers as a collaborative piece of art work.
