We talked about how we celebrated Halloween with our families. One of the children said that they had eaten lots of sweets. We talked about looking after our teeth and the importance of brushing them in the morning and at night. We are reading Pumpkin Soup by Helen Cooper. We looked carefully at pumpkins and did observational drawings, paintings and we also did some really lovely drawings with oil pastels on black paper. This week in our maths we have been learning about the numbers 1,2,3. We have been making groups of the numbers and thinking about groups which do and don’t have 1,2, or 3. Some of us are really good at playing the Spotty Dog game because we can recognise groups of 1,2 and 3 without having to count. We were able to enjoy using Autumn resources in the sunshine to do some of our maths learning. We have been revising our Phase 2 sounds and our tricky words. We practised writing the sounds and tricky words. We are becoming super blenders. The rainbow on Thursday was a real talking point with everyone as they arrived at school. We saw the double rainbow and we read the Rainbow information in our lovely book “Slow Down” by Rachel Williams. We learned about how the sun and rain make a rainbow and we learned that the shape is an arc. We played a fun rainbow game in PE. In our SCARF lesson we thought about what makes us special and we learned a new song about being special.
