Dear Cygnets
Let’s start our day with a song. Join in with the words and listen out for your favourite vegetable. I wonder what it might be?

Have a look at this painting called the Vegetable Stall by William MacGregor. He painted it in 1884 which is 136 years ago. Look at the painting. What can you see? How many different kinds of vegetables can you see? Think about the different places we can get vegetables from? This kind of painting is called a still life. The artist chose the vegetables and arranged them in a special way and then looked really carefully at them while he drew and painted them. Your next challenge is to make a collection of at least 3 vegetables and arrange them in a basket, bowl or plate. Look at them really carefully. Think about their size, shape, colour and pattern. Now draw or paint them carefully.
Your Phonics challenge today is to read the story, circle the words with the short vowel “or” phoneme and record them in a list. How many can you find?
Your next challenge is to listen to the story called Shopping Basket by John Burnigham. Listen carefully to what Mum asks Steven to buy. Can you write the shopping list to help Steven remember what he has to buy. How many things did she ask him to buy altogether? How many things did he have in his basket at the end?
Today’s White Rose Maths activities are from Week 10, Day 2. Today you will be playing a memory game and counting groups.
