Dear Cygnets

This week we are going to be learning about healthy eating. Let’s start our learning with some fun music and movement. Listen to Andy and join in with digging up potatoes, singing his funny potato song and listening to a story about boy called Sam who plants potatoes in his new garden.

Some of you might be growing vegetables and fruit in your gardens. Your next challenge is to go on a vegetable hunt and to make a list of all the vegetables you find in your house and in your garden.

Your Phonics challenge today is to read the story, circle the words with the short vowel “ar” phoneme and record them in a list. How many can you find?

This week our maths activities are based on the story Oliver’s Vegetables by Vivian French. Listen carefully and the retell the story to someone using your own words.

A challenge for you to work on throughout this week is to make a diary to record all the healthy vegetables and fruits you eat. You can do this by writing the day at the top of your paper and drawing and labelling the vegetables and fruits. I wonder how many different kinds of vegetables and fruits you will eat this week?

Today’s White Rose Maths activities are from Week 10, Day 1. Today you will be sorting healthy and unhealthy foods and making patterns.

Your last challenge is to listen to the story called Vegetable Glue by Susan Chandler. It is a very funny story which helps us to remember to eat our vegetables because they are good for us and help to keep our bodies healthy.
