We began our topic on fossils by introducing Mary Anning. The children looked at a painting of her and looked for clues in the picture.

It lovely to be back in Swan class and the children were all keen to work after the Christmas break.
In Maths we started work on fractions. We looked at finding half of a shape, making sure that both halves were the same. We found that half could be recorded as 1/2. Then we looked at quarters. Next week we will look at finding half of a number and simple division.
The children wrote about what they would like to do in 2020. Some parents will need to get busy booking a trip to the Arctic to see polar bears!! Next week we are going to start writing stories.
In Science we are looking at different materials. We sorted objects in to sets of different materials and discussed the properties of the different materials.
Show and Tell: Favourite Stories
In January 2019, the children in Cygnet class made time capsules. They included a self portrait, a ribbon to show their height, a foot and hand print and an information sheet. The capsules were hidden away for a whole year and then today the children opened their capsules! We shared the moment with current cygnets and we were amazed how much the children had grown in a year.
