Dragon Collage
This week, Swallow class have added the third step to their amazing multi – media dragon collages. So far the children have drawn their own unique dragon, used pearlescent paints to add colour, pastels to highlight as well as feathers and sparkles. Every dragon is different, with its own unique character. These designs will be the inspiration for the children’s creative writing next week.

Dragonologists!
This week, Swallow class turned dragonologists, as they investigated ‘The Curious Incident in Swallow Class’.
After viewing CCTV footage of a mysterious visitor, the dragonologists hunted for clues in the school grounds. We found much dragon evidence!
Here Be Dragons!
Swallows class were so inspired by the shared text ‘Tell Me A Dragon’ by Jackie Morris, that we decided to design and map our own ‘Dragon World’. We looked carefully at how the Jackie draws background landscapes, rolling hills and cities. Our Dragon World will become the background for exploring the book further, shared writing and creating more dragons. The children are thrilled with our world, which looks amazing!
The Hemblington Brainwave
We are learning about how our brain works and the ways in which we learn. We enjoyed our visit from Professor Spark and dissecting a jelly brain!
Message for Swallow Class 20.7.20
Dear Swallows,
It was fantastic to see so many of you at our ‘Keeping in touch day’ on Wednesday. Mrs M-G and I really enjoyed hearing your news and seeing you catch up with your friends. The only downside was that you have all had a growth spurt and are mostly now taller than me!!
Thank you also, parents and children for the super thoughtful and generous cards and gifts. I have already decided on a place for my beautiful rose in my garden!
This week, I have uploaded on to our class blog, some exciting summer challenges. These include: The Epic Summer Scrapbook Journal Challenge, The Summer Reading Challenge 2020 and, The Get Out and About Hemblington Challenge Grid. Knowing you Swallows as I do, these activities will be right up your street! You have the whole summer holiday to complete them and a variety of challenges, so there is something for everybody!
Miss Collier, who you met on Wednesday, and will be your new Headteacher in September is keen for you to know there will be prizes! So no need to wait for the holidays to officially start, get going now Swallows!!
For those of you that are keen to continue with the BBC Bitesize learning, the lessons will continue throughout this week and you can also scroll back to previous lessons that interest you.
I have loved having you all in my class and hope that you have enjoyed making lots of fun Swallow class memories. I wish you all a brilliant summer holiday and look forward to seeing you all in September.
Love from Mrs Meston x
