This has been a very busy week. We welcomed groups of new children each after noon this week, showed them our classroom and played with them. Some of the Cygnet children and families came to a transition scoot, snack and cycle event with Swan class after school. They met Mrs Norgate who will be our Head Teacher and Miss Williamson who will be the Deputy Head in September. It was move up day on Friday and the children enjoyed their day with Mrs Goodson now that they are turning into beautiful Swans.
We designed water wheels at home and brought them into school to test. We planned how we could improve our water wall and have enjoyed playing with it.
This week in maths we have been developing our spatial awareness through following and making maps and mazes. We have enjoyed making maps of our journey to school and pirate maps.
We have been practising and consolidating our phonics learning. We enjoyed reading comics using the sounds we have learned. We listened to the story Yucky Worms by Vivian French. We looked carefully at the first 2 pages and thought about the setting and what the characters were thinking. We talked about our own thoughts about worms being yucky or not. We listened to the story and some of the children changed their minds and decided that worms are important. We did worm paintings with string.
