This week we have been making 9s and 10s on 10s frames, ordering and reading numbers to 10. We learned to do careful counting when playing a matching game. We listened to 10 Black Dots by Donald Crews and made our own pictures using 10 black spots. The children came up with lots of different ideas and it was really lovely to see them using different media to make their pictures. In phonics we have been learning to read and write CCVC words eg skip and plan and to write the tricky words was and you. We enjoyed singing our rhyme of the week Old MacDonald Had a Farm. We practised our story telling and acting skills by making up stories which were scribed and had lots of fun acting them out. We talked about our holidays and about our observations of the windy weather. We read After the Storm by Nick Butterworth. We had an unexpected visit from Mrs Willert and her two adorable kittens Ruby and Lunar. We learned about how she looks after them and we enjoyed playing with them and their toys. Their fur felt really soft and one of them was an expert jumper which gave us a real surprise. We have been learning about the things which we can safely put onto our bodies, the things which keep our bodies clean and protected. We enjoyed bathing the babies and looking after them. In PE we played games with a partner to develop our throwing skills. We had lots of fun moving from one game to the next and keeping our scores.
