This week we observed that there are signs of Spring beginning to appear in the outside area. Daffodil leaves and tiny flowers have appeared as have the first signs of tulip leaves. One of the children was delighted to spot the snowdrop flowers emerging. This week week we have been learning about numbers 6,7, and 8 in maths. We went on a number hunt and found lots of different ways of making 6. During independent play some children further investigated full and empty. They worked together to fill the biggest bucket we could find with sand and made a giant sandcastle. It was so heavy that Mrs Swift had to pick it up and turn it over. We have been using our phonic skills to read and write words and sentences about the farm. The inspiration for our PE lessons was the farmyard and we had fun moving like different farm animals and playing fun games while practising our stopping and hopping skills. We read Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers and the children listened really well and came up with lots of really good ideas about why the penguin was sad. They showed that they really understood that he wanted to find a friend. In our SCARF lesson this week we learned about having a healthy mind and the things we can do to help our mental wellbeing. We discussed emotions further when we read the Worrysaurus and The Colour Monster. We had some special visitors from Year 4 for a fun story time.
