Robin Class News: 19.12.20

The Robins enjoyed the final week of the Autumn Term, with a variety of Christmas activities. They produced some beautiful Christmas cards for their families, with a snowy scene and Christmas trees. Here are a few photos showing these cards.

In addition to completing a number of Christmas related worksheets, the children also listened to several versions of the Nativity story and watched a previous year’s recording of a KS1 / Year 3 Nativity play. By the middle of the week, they completed the Maths unit on money, with a short assessment sheet. Most children were able to identify the coins and notes we use in the UK and had learnt that they have different values.

On Wednesday, the whole school enjoyed their Christmas lunch in phase bubbles in the hall. Crackers were pulled before the children enjoyed their meal. On Thursday, the Robins and Kingfishers watched a Christmas film, while enjoying a drink, packet of crisps and a small bag of sweets. After the party, they took their envelope home with their Christmas cards and Robin calendar. Mrs Brownsey certainly had a busy week, mounting the children’s felt Robin creations onto card! Here are some photos of the finished calendars.

Friday arrived, which turned out to be a very relaxed day! The Robins enjoyed their second Wind in the Willows PE lesson, ran around the track, played ‘Snakes and Ladders’, completed tasks in their Christmas Activity Book and watched a short Peter Rabbit film and The Snowman. By Friday, some of the children were certainly beginning to look tired, so in need of a holiday.

Finally, here are two photos of the Robins and Kingfishers in the hall wearing their Christmas jumpers and hats, when they recorded their short performance of Christmas songs and poems.

I hope you all enjoy Christmas Day, which is the only day that we are allowed to get together with other members of our families. It hasn’t been an easy year and it now looks as though we are set for more challenging times, with Tier 4 beginning on Boxing Day.

Take care, keep safe, enjoy the festive food and have fun opening the presents under the Christmas tree!
