We enjoyed another week of firsts in Swan Class, our first visit to the computer room, guided reading sessions, phonic work in books, science, to name just a few.
In Maths we concentrated on counting and writing numbers. We do have a lot of number reversals so please practise this at home.
In English we revised the phase 2 phonemes, s,t,m etc and recorded our work independently. I will put together a pack of resources that you can use at home to support learning and send it out in the next week or two.
In Science we named the parts of the body and in art made two new class mates to make a ‘ human body’ display. The children added to the display by placing labels on the pictures.
In Computing we visited the computer room and we learnt about the parts of the computer and how to turn it on, log on and turn off correctly. We used a program called Simple City to improve mouse control.
The children are really focused and ready to learn, so even though they have not been in school for such a long time, they have the right attitude to make progress.
Please help your child by reading every day at home. If evenings don’t work try reading together in the morning. If you would like support on the best way to listen to your child read please let me know, I’m sure that I could film a session. Also re-reading a book helps your child become a more confident reader.
I am looking forward to our zoom meeting on Monday. I will cover general information about Swan Class but I will also email you all to find out what information would be useful.
